Players Speak Out

Since the killing of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor last week, the relentless discrimination faced by black people in America has been brought into focus once again, reminding us of the injustices they face every day. Americans everywhere are standing up and showing their support for the Black Lives Matter Movement. Athletes across MLB have raised their voice against George Floyd and Breonna Taylor’s death through social media.

Many organizations across the nation have put out official statements showing their support and loud criticism is being directed at organizations that have stayed silent.

The message is coming from both longtime activists, and others who haven’t spoke up on the issue in the past.

Over the weekend, Taylor Trammell posted on Twitter, while Pete Alonso used Instagram to show their support for the movement.

As we’re all making our voices heard it’s important to remember that our support should go beyond an Instagram or Twitter post. Pirates’ shortstop Cole Tucker made sure to share some helpful links to resources where you can show your support.

Amongst this who have spoken out, New York Mets pitcher, Marcus Stroman sent a powerful message to everyone about the problem being with in.

Not only are players sharing ways to help, they are also sharing their opinions on the matter at hand. Andrew Mccutchen avoiced his opinion on the issue very early on.

It is incredible to see that these players are using their platforms and voices to bring awareness to the issue at hand. In a world that is so divided and troublesome it is nice to see these players taking action and using their platforms for a good cause.
